        California Motorcycle License Requirements


Depending on your age, there are different requirement for getting your motorcycle license. The Basic RiderCoursesm is required if you are under 21 or if you are over 21 and do not hold a regular drivers license. Our programs are certified Basic RiderCoursesm and DMV certificates are given upon completion.

No matter your age you will have to take a written test to get your motorcycle license. Make sure to study the handbook before you take your test. Below is a link to download the Motorcycle Handbook provided by the DMV and two sample tests:

What You Need for Your License:
• Basic RiderCoursesm completion certificate (required under 21 or over 21 without a regular license, recommended if you are over 21 with a drivers license)
• DMV written knowledge test
• Form DL44 (you can pick up the form prior to your appointment at the DMV or call the appointment phone number and they will mail you one)
• You must use your true full name
• Social Security Number
• Birth Date and proof of legal presence in the United States
• Vision Exam
• $26 application fee
